I could not agree more. Sure he changed his life for the better, but his victims didn't have the chance to make any changes to their lives. I have no sympathy for those who kill in cold blood, and to those who die because they have earned their postion on death row. So be it. I have never lost a loved one due to a tragic murder, and please God protect my family. But I have seen what things like that do to families. It's a sad situaionl. These bastards that kill out of cold blood, get to live so much longer and we the tax payers pay to keep them alive. I won't lose any sleep when he is put to rest.

The death penalty is morally wrong in every sense. I am not absolving
Tookie Williams of his guilt but think about this there have been 28
people executed in this coumtry whom later were proven to be innocent. That may not sound like many people but think of those people and thier families nect time you read of a person being put to death.

The horror stories are just about the death penalty look at how many men have been released in the last 15 years that were accused of , and murder but the dna evidence later proved what they had said for years. For example just a few weeks ago they released a man who maintained his innocence for the length of his incarceration but the victim identified. Then his was tested dna and was not a match.

Just a thought from the other side of the isle.

Yay! You have my vote, MizKitka! This whole thing just pisses me off.

It's punitive. That's the whole idea! We're choosing to punish the worthless SOB. More power to us! Our collective conscience can't keep taking hit after hit--when we fail to do justice and mete out punishment, we're sending the wrong message. The message we need is: It does matter if you're one of the good guys and we'll stick together. We'll kill to defend ourselves.

Pick anybody you like, and imagine them standing between the filthy vile creature that is Williams and freedom. Think he'll beat them to death with his little kiddie book? Hell yes! If it were you, and you and Tookie both had guns pointed at each other, and your 9-yr old was in the room, would you wait to see if he'd shoot? Heck no, you'd shoot him. Because you'd be rightly afraid for your lives.

I don't give a darn if he repents, he hasn't PAID. He owes his victims--and we're all his victims. He's the boogeyman made real, he's part of our fear. We're not afraid of Tookie specifically, but without the Tookies we wouldn't be as afraid as we are.

Not only should he die, he should die at the Superbowl. Somebody should buy his useless flesh and use him as an ad campaign. Maybe Fubu.

Hey if he truly made the conversion he's gotta beleive in the absolute indestructablity of the spirit so even if he dies he'll still be around anyway.

Just not physically.

In that regard the fear of death is far over rated.

I mean I personally don't want death at the moment but at some point I'm certain that I'll welcome it with open arms.

If it's not your time it's truly impossible to kill yourself or to be killed.

If death is what happened to the guy then it _was_ his time.

I really know very little about Tookies situation and I'm not for the death penalty but I'll still stand by everything I just stated above.

Without climbing into the thick of things, I would like to throw out another solution I heard a few years ago that might calm the masses. I am by no means a huge fan of Bill O'Reilly, but he did put forth one idea that I found very interesting.

Instead of the death penalty, sentence them to life in a hard labor camp. No TV, internet, magazines, weight lifting etc. Just twelve hours a day of back breaking labor, six days every week. Not only does it eliminate the possibility of executing an innocent person, it may actually be a better deterrent than the death penalty or life in prison. What would be scarier for someone absolutely opposed to work yet bent on violent crime for prosperity?

Just my two cents worth.
